HIFraser was announced as Winner in Innovation, Research and Development category of The Australian Engineering Excellence Awards (AEEA) Sydney 2016. This is the fifth time HIFraser’s Support Systems for the Submarine Escape Rescue System Hyperbaric Suite (SERS) has been recognised since the solution has been delivered to the Australian Navy in late 2014.
This project has previously received a Defence Industry SME Innovation Grant at Pacific 2015 and three PACE Zenith awards in 2015: Project of the Year, Oil & Gas and Machine Builder awards.
The SERS suite provides the Navy the capability to safely decompress a complete crew (72 persons) of a distressed submarine and consists of two air transportable containerised systems as a customised Low Pressure Breathing Air Delivery System, and an Environmental Control System that meet strict offshore commercial and the Australian Navy requirements and set the world’s first and Australian benchmarks for such systems.
